CHAPTER
V
CONCLUSIONS
SUGGESTIONS
Conclusions
After finishing his research and writing the fourth chapter,
the writer will put forward some conclusions as follows;
1.
Concept mapping is a tool
for helping students’ “learn how to learn”
2.
In line the pattern in
teaching speaking, there is a technique of presenting the lesson for the
purpose of improving students’ mapping ideas of certain topic. In this case,
the students are exposed to develop related vocabularies in order to be able to
express their mind and feelings.
3.
As learning technique,
concept mapping is an overt way of representing meaningful relationships
between concepts in the form of propositions, that is, two or more concept
labels linked by clarifying words.
4.
As out ward manifestations
of students’ understanding, concept map help to externalize thinking and
therefore provide opportunities for discussion – as well as instruction – based
on an informed sense of what the student does and does not know.
5.
Teaching speaking is a very
important part of second language learning. The ability to communicate in a
second language clearly and efficiently contributes to the success of the
learner in school and success in every phase of life. Therefore, it is
essential that language teachers pay great attention to speaking. Rather than
leading students to pure memorization, providing a rich environment where
meaning full communication take place is desired. With this goal, various speaking
activities such as those as those listed above can contribute a great deal to
students in developing basic interactive skills necessary for life. These
activities makes students more active in the learning process and at the same
time make their learning more meaningful and fun for them.
6.
Based on the information of
chapter IV, t observe value is 8,34 while t critical is 2.021. So, the value of
t observes is more than t critical, it means that the mapping ideas can develop
students’ speaking ability.
Suggestion
The writer would like to present some suggestions on mapping
ideas’ for students speaking ability as follow;
1.
Concept mapping has the
potential to facilitate the communication of knowledge, both verbally and in
written form, and it may make a valuable contribution to boarding the scoop of
evaluation tools available to educators.
2.
Provide the vocabulary
beforehand that students need in speaking activities.
3.
Provide maximum opportunity
to students to speak the target language by providing a rich environment that
contains collaborative work, authentic materials and tasks, and shared knowledge.
4.
Try to involve each student
in every speaking activity, for this aim , practice different ways of student
participant.
5.
Reduce teacher speaking
time in class, while increasing student speaking time step back and observe students
6.
Indicate positive sign when
commenting on a student’s r response
7.
Don not correct students’
pronunciation mistake very often while they are speaking. Correction should not
distract students from his or her
speech
8.
Circulate around the class
room to ensure that students are on the
right track and se weather they need or
help while they need our help while they work in groups or pairs
9.
Diagnose problems paced by
students who have difficulty in expressing themselves in the target language
and provide more opportunities to practice the spoken language.
