For most of us the goods we possess and the means of acquiring more are satisfy limited. These mean that if we acquire commodity or receive a service we must be content with less of something else which might have been obtained by the same effort or expenditure .There is the problem of determining which goods and services will give us the greatest satisfaction. This is an economic problem both for us as individuals and for society as a whole.
We shall always
have to deal with the primary economic problems of the production of wealth,
the consumption of wealth, and the distribution of wealth. No economic or
political system will wipe them away. Communism, socialism, and are different
attempts to provide a solution to these problems, but none of these systems
will in practice eliminate them.
Farming
Nearly half the
world’s population works on the land, growing crops and raising animals. By
doing so, they produce food for the rest of the people in the world. The
numbers of farmers varies from country. In some countries, almost everyone
farms the land. In developed countries, however, there are fewer farmers. In
these countries they use machines and advanced methods of farming to produce
more food with fewer people.
In parts of Africa, Asia and South America
farmers still use old of farming. Many uses method called shifting cultivation
they clear a piece of land, grow crops
and then graze cattle until the land can no longer produce crops. Then they
move on to a fresh piece of land
Some farmers
specialize. They may either grow crops or raise livestock. Others do both.
Farmers grow different crops and raise different animals for a number of
