PASSIVE VOICE

STUDY THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE WORDS ORDERS FOR PASSIVE VOICE
A. SIMPLE PRESENT OR SIMPLE PAST
Am, is, are ( Simple )

Was and Were (past)

Add (Verb in past participle)


 Active: Hurricanes    destroy       a great deal property    each year
                  Subject            Present                    Complement                            time of signal
Passive:  A great deal property   is    destroyed        by hurricanes each year
                  Singular Subject                         be        Past participle                                               time of signal

Active: Tornado    destroyed    thirty houses
               Subject                 past                  Complement
Passive: Thirty houses   were    destroyed by the tornado
                 Plural Subject               be                  past participle

B. PRESENT PROGRESSIVE OR PAST PROGRESSSIVE
Am, is, are (Present Progressive)

Was, Were ( Past Progressive )

Add being add (Verb in Past participle )


Active: The Committee      is considering        several new proposals.

Passive: Several new proposals    are    being considered by the committee

C. PRESENT PERFECT OR PAST PERPECT

D. MODALS

E. MODALS + PERFECT
Modal + have + been + (verb in past participle)

 Active: Somebody    should    have called the president this morning
